Beatrix Alison Cameron (née Binns) was born on November 16, 1936, in Fielding, New Zealand, to Beatrix Helen and Donald Urquhart Binns. She trained as a nurse and spent her career caring for patients in various hospitals and clinics across New Zealand. Known for her kindness and empathy towards her patients, she was highly respected by her colleagues and received several awards for her outstanding service.
In 1958, Alison married Rodney Alexander Cameron, and they settled in Ohingaiti where they raised their family. After retiring, Rodney and Alison moved to Auckland in the mid-1990s, where they supported the Hope Church in Papatoetoe.
After Rodney passed away in 2014, Alison moved back to Fielding to be closer to her daughter and family. In her later years, she developed Parkinson’s and moved to Brightwater Rest Home in Palmerston North to receive medical care. Despite facing health challenges, Alison remained positive and continued to inspire those around her with her resilience and positive attitude.
Alison passed away on August 12, 2022, at the age of 85. She had a family service in Fielding and was then taken back to Auckland to be interred with her husband Rodney at the Manukau Memorial Gardens.
